Background
The Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology (OARIT) began providing services in 1947 when it was part of Maha Sarakham Teacher Training School. The library was initially located in a small room next to the principal’s office in the Fuengfa Building, with the school staff responsible for acquiring books. It was relocated from the Fuengfa Building to the Banburi Building, in 1952.
• In 1959, moved from the Banburi Building to Building 1, where the ground floor was expanded to include a reading area for newspapers. Later moved to Building 2 in the western part of the campus, with three classrooms and seating for 80 people.
• By 1966, was under the management of a trained librarian, Professor Sanoh ThuaThip.
• In 1969, expanded by adding three more rooms.
• In 1971, combined with a curriculum laboratory of the Education Department.
• By 1974, moved to a new two-story building of 1,850 square meters of space, which included a meeting room and a classroom.
• In 1996, the library’s organizational structure was changed to be under the Office of Academic Promotion in accordance with the Rajabhat Institute Act.
• In 1997, restructured as the Office of Academic Resources under the Office of Academic Promotion.
• In 1999, the library moved to a new six-story building with 4,970 square meters of space, while the journal section remained in the old library building. The administration was restructured as the Information Service Center under the Office of Academic Promotion.
• In 2000, the Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology (OARIT) built a bridge connecting the six-story building to the old two-story library building. This area became a hall for exhibitions and newspaper services.
• In 2002, Her Royal Highness Princess Galayanivadhana bestowed the name “Banrajnakarin” upon the library buildings of Rajabhat Institutes across the country.
• In 2004, His Majesty the King promulgated the Rajabhat University Act, upgrading Maha Sarakham Rajabhat Institute to Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University on June 15, 2004.
• In 2005, implemented a new management structure, consisting of three divisions:
1. Administration Division
2. Library Division
3. Information Technology Division
• In 2006, underwent another restructuring, bringing the Science Development Division, previously part of the Office of Academic Promotion, under its administrative scope. The total service area was increased to 6,820 square meters, consisting of the old two-story library building with 1,850 square meters and the new six-story building with 4,970 square meters, as the Computer Center moved to the Language and Computer Center Building.
• In 2007, relocated the thesis and research service from the fifth floor of Banrajnakarin Building to the first floor of the old building, making the old building house four academic service units: Thesis and Research, Teacher Development Network, Science Development, and Journal and Newspaper. To celebrate His Majesty the King’s 80th birthday, the office was tasked with establishing the Royal Glory Exhibition Hall to honor the King’s royal projects and his contributions to Maha Sarakham Province and the university, in the Vibul-Yupin Lauhapongchana Conference Room. It was opened on June 15, 2008, by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sompat Kaewpichit.
• In 2012, established the ASEAN Information Center according to the national plan on joining the ASEAN community in 2015 which the university implemented as its internationalization policy.
• In 2013, Mrs. Praphaporn Pimpasripirom was appointed as the Director on April 18, 2013. The management structure was reorganized into five divisions and one center as follows:
1. Administration Division
2. Library Division
3. Special Information Division
4. Information Technology and Electronic Media Division
5. Science Development and Printing Division
6. The ASEAN Information Center.
• In 2014, the ASEAN Information Center moved from the fifth floor to the hallway connecting the old library with the Banrajnakarin Building.
• In 2016, the center underwent a renovation on February 1, 2016 with a budget of 5,640,000 baht, expanding and upgrading the service areas of the two-story building, covering a total area of 1,020.94 square meters. The renovation was completed on September 27, 2016.
• In 2019, during the 12th University Council Meeting on September 27, the university’s council approved the transfer of the Computer Center from the Office of the President to the Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology, officially taking effect on January 13, 2020.
